IEC 61850 SCL Analyzer: validate and visualize SCL files in your browser

The SCL Analyzer parses large IEC 61850 SCL files (SCD, ICD, CID, IID, SSD, SED) entirely in your browser and produces a health and handover diagnostic report. It renders a single-line diagram and an inter-IED communication map (GOOSE, Sampled Values, and Report control blocks), lets you inspect IED interiors and protection settings, and exports HTML or DOC reports plus a versioned edited SCL file.

Who it is for

Protection, commissioning, and testing engineers, system integrators, and utility and EPC teams handling IEC 61850 substation configuration.

Inputs and outputs

Typical use cases

What it does not do

It does not replace the relay manufacturer's configuration software, IEC 61850 conformance testing, or a project-specific protection and SCL design study. It is a review and visualization aid, not a sign-off authority.

Privacy: The SCL Analyzer does not store any data on the internet or in the cloud. Only the application is loaded from the internet; your SCL data is processed locally on your computer and never leaves it.

Frequently asked questions

What is an IEC 61850 SCL file?
SCL files (SCD, ICD, CID, IID, SSD, SED) are XML configuration files that describe the IEDs, their data models, and the communication of an IEC 61850 substation.
What SCL file types can be inspected?
The analyzer reads SCD, ICD, CID, IID, SSD, and SED files.
Can this help understand IED communication?
Yes. It maps GOOSE, Sampled Values, and Report control block relationships between IEDs so you can review subscriptions and dataset health.
Are SCL files uploaded to a server?
No. The SCL Analyzer does not store any data on the internet or in the cloud. Only the application is loaded from the internet; your SCL data is processed locally on your computer and never leaves it.
Does this validate a substation design?
No. It is a review and visualization aid. Design sign-off requires the applicable standards, the relay manufacturer's tools, and engineering judgment.
Can I export a report?
Yes. You can export an HTML or DOC health report and a versioned edited SCL file.
